Moving house is the best excuse you'll get to declutter — everything has to be touched, boxed, and decided on anyway. Here's a practical, room-by-room approach.
Kitchen
Duplicate utensils, chipped crockery, appliances you haven't used in a year, and expired pantry items are the easiest wins. Keep what you actually cook with; donate or discard the rest.
Bedrooms and closets
Clothes you haven't worn in a full season cycle, shoes that no longer fit, and linen past its best are all good candidates for donation. Old mattresses and bed frames being replaced can go out with your move-related rubble collection.
Garage and storage
This is usually where the real volume hides — old paint tins, broken tools, off-cuts of building material, and boxes nobody's opened since the last move. Separate anything metal (old tools, brackets, broken appliances) for scrap collection rather than binning it.
Paperwork and boxes
Old paperwork you no longer need to keep can go out for white paper recycling. Once you've unpacked at the new place, flatten the moving boxes for box collection rather than letting them pile up in a garage.
Booking the clear-out
Whether it's one big pre-move clear-out or a post-move tidy-up, we handle moving, rubble, scrap and paper collection together — so you're not juggling multiple services for one job. Mention what you're getting rid of when you book and we'll bring the right vehicle.
